About Workshop 1 Mindfulness

Workshop One introduces parents to mindfulness so they can better support their child throughout the Mindfully Growing program. Parents will learn what mindfulness is and how to incorporate it into their lives and families. Through guided exercises, they will experience mindfulness firsthand, including the raisin activity, a classic mindful eating exercise, and will develop a personalized mindful eating plan. By understanding these core concepts, parents will be equipped to help their children gain more from the program.

Workshop 2 Food Acceptance and Mindful Eating

  • Objective 1: Review of using the senses while eating
  • Objective 2: Reflect on children’s current eating behaviors around food acceptance and appetite
  • Objective 3: Discuss ways to improve children’s food preferences and acceptance

About Workshop 2 Food Acceptance and Mindful Eating

In workshop two, parents will explore their children’s current eating behaviors, including food acceptance and appetite. They will learn strategies to improve their child’s food preferences and acceptance, support mindful eating practices, create food environments that promote healthy appetite development and satiety, and encourage children to try new foods. Building on their understanding of mindful eating basics, parents will develop a personalized mindful feeding plan for their child.

  • Objective 1: Reflect on home food environment and family meal routines
  • Objective 2: Discuss ways to implement mindfulness at mealtimes
  • Objective 3: Identify nourishing foods to support children’s growth and development

About Workshop 3 Mindful Feeding

In workshop three, parents will reflect on their home food environments and family meal routines, learn how to implement mindfulness at mealtimes, and identify nourishing foods to support children’s growth and development. They will discover strategies for creating mindful meals with their children, including the benefits of involving children in food preparation. The goal is to encourage parents to be present during mealtimes and offer nourishing foods that support their children’s well-being.
